Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB)’s Primary care Mental Health Support service is seeking to procure short-term psychological therapy provision to support improvement of waiting times within our service. Short-term psychological therapy would need to be provided to children, young people (aged under 18) and their families with a range of mild-moderate mental health needs including low mood, anxiety, behavioural challenges for whom psychological therapy has been identified at assessment as being an appropriate course of clinical action. It is likely that a proportion of the work will need to be with parents or families rather than 1:1 work with the identified child or young person.
Our CYP primary care mental health service seeks to understand and respond to children and young people’s emotional distress within a developmental, normative, contextual framework and we seek to ensure that our interventions also fit within this value base. All clients will have been seen in the first instance for assessment by one of our CYP practitioners that has led to an understanding of the presenting needs and a plan for therapeutic work to be carried out.
There would be a requirement for the provider to provide ABUHB with a monthly update regarding all clients who have been allocated to the referrer, to include for each patient:
• Dates of appointments offered to individual clients and whether appointments were attended, DNAs, cancellations by client or cancellations by the provider
• A brief update report on completion each individual counselling episode to be included in the GP record, to include number of counselling sessions offered / attended, goals of counselling, and outcome
As the work will be carried out on behalf of ABUHB, there will be a requirement to adhere to appropriate confidentiality and safeguarding policies.
