Crynodeb

Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnership and Midlothian Council are seeking expressions of interest from providers with experience of delivering mental health and well-being supports in the community to join a short life working group to support the redesign of community mental health supports in Midlothian.

Background

Currently there is one main third sector provider of mental health and well-being services for adults aged 18 plus in Midlothian. The service has grown organically over a period of time and the provider now has 14 service delivery elements for adults including one to one/group support (day service), early intervention crisis service and community development elements such as Midlothian access point. The service re-design will include all these areas of service provision.

The Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnership’s Mental Health Strategic Plan for 2019 -2022 has a focus on prevention and early intervention, unplanned support/treatment and planned support/ treatment and recovery and gives a framework for service provision and an outline strategic direction. The review of commissioned services will be undertaken as a whole system approach to ensure effective and recovery focussed services across Midlothian that link in with statutory services and support people to access help and support at the right time, right place.

Approach

We want to adopt a partnership approach and work collaboratively engaging a range of stakeholders, using knowledge, data and information from a wide variety of sources to design supports for adults with mental health issues in the community.

Timescales

The project group and wider engagement events will take place from late Feb 2020 to September 2020 and following this there will be a procurement process for the commissioned services to be in place on 1.4.2021.
