The University of South Wales requires a new gaseous hydrogen storage cylinder(s) for stationary buffer storage use. These storage cylinders are to be integrated with the existing Hydrogen system at the University’s Hydrogen R&D Centre at Baglan, Port Talbot, UK.

Once installed, this equipment will enable development of further operation and experimentation as part of the ERDF funded FLEXIS project in support of the project aims of Work Package 5 (Hydrogen Energy Storage Systems), as well as providing a basis for further R&D collaborative activity, leading to industrial deployment of the hydrogen energy technology.

Vessel(s) are for containment of Hydrogen gas under the following conditions:

Normal Working Pressure = 410 bar (g)

Maximum Working Pressure = 450 bar (g)

Test Pressure = To be specified by manufacturer (In accordance with the requirements of the European Pressure Equipment Directive, a hydraulic test pressure of at least 650bar (g) would be required)

Minimum temperature = -40 degC (Typical winter ambient minimum -20 degC)

Maximum temperature = +65 degC (Typical summer ambient maximum +32 degC)

Total Volume (interior) 500 litre (minimum) 700 litre (maximum)

Delivery & Installation

Delivery to University of South Wales, Hydrogen Centre, Baglan Energy Park, Port Talbot SA12 7AX, UK.

Additionally, full maintenance and operating instructions and installation guidance are to be provided

Additional Information

1. This storage can be made up of a single cylinder or smaller individual cylinders. If the multiple cylinder option is preferred, the quotation will also need to include individual cylinders which will need to be manifolded to a single connection point and mounted on to a secure frame.

2. All materials to be specified by the supplier

3. Any mounting blocks and fixings are to be provided by the supplier

4. Supplier to confirm the details of the available end connection(s)

5. Cylinder(s) to be approved in accordance with the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)

6. Inside of the vessel(s) to be free from contaminants and free from moisture

7. Supplier to state any dimensional change over the pressure range
