BCBC have procured a Financial Advice & Support Service.
The service will assist service users who reside within former Communities First delivery areas of Bridgend County Borough Council and/or service users who are in poverty or at risk of poverty due to any number of reasons, which may include:
•Debt problems
•Financial difficulty
•Unemployment (claiming benefits, including Universal Credit (UC))
•Inability to budget or manage finances effectively
•Those experiencing ‘in work poverty’
•Those requiring information and support to undertake employment better off calculations.
The project will provide targeted and personalised advice to the residents. Advice should help service users manage their finances to get best value from their income and benefits, to protect or secure accommodation and avoid or mitigate the effects of personal debt.
The service will be provided on a peripatetic basis primarily targeting former Communities First areas, but with flexibility to provide provision to those in need throughout the Bridgend Borough, the provider will be expected to engage people through a variety of ways and provision may be provided in the community at organised drop-ins and events linked to wider provision, for example at Job Centres and where necessary to service users in their own homes
