Gwalia (part of Pobl Group) have awarded a contract for delivery of its Playful Communities project which is made up of three elements: 1. Delivery of a six week community play project, using a 20’ wooden Pirate Ship. Provision will visit 6 Gwalia areas for 4 hours per day between 12pm and 4pm. Areas will be determined by need and will spread across the counties of Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Carmarthenshire, Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. This project must engage with all local residents to build local relationships, develop a stronger sense of community, identify and where possible remove barriers to playing out. 2. Delivery of three Agored Cymru level 1 accredited Playwork courses run across the 12 month period, in communities where there is the greatest uptake. Training should look to engage between 15 and 30 Gwalia customers during the 12 month period, and courses must also be made available to the wider community, where support to improve local play opportunities exists. 3. Support a minimum of 3 Gwalia communities to be determined in partnership with Gwalia Housing staff, over a 24 week period, outside of the school holidays. Offering weekly 2 hour street play sessions and actively involving local adults to create a legacy of improved access, attitude and environments for play opportunities and community activity.
