The Client has a requirement for the provision of a Wheelchair Approved Repairer Service which is a fully managed service and includes the delivery, collection, storage, repair, modification, recycling and planned preventative maintenance of wheelchairs. The Belfast HSC Trust currently provides a Regional Wheelchair Service working with wheelchair users across Northern Ireland to determine their needs and prescribe appropriate wheelchair equipment. Occupational Therapists within each Trust are responsible for initiating the process to determine wheelchair equipment requirements and they submit a referral to the Regional Wheelchair Service. Wheelchairs are purchased via a NHSSC framework contract and it is these wheelchairs which require ongoing management via the Wheelchair Approved Repairer Service.
