Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission (SHET) plc is the licence holder for the transmission system in the North of Scotland. This license encompasses areas with significant potential for the development of renewable generation. SHET has received connection applications for large numbers of generation projects and, as a consequence, is currently engaged in a major programme of system reinforcements on both its mainland and island networks. The application of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology is seen as a key enabler for several of SHET's system reinforcements and its integration into the existing system must be carefully studied.

SHET plc is looking to enter into Framework Agreements(s) with 1 or more suppliers for the provision of specialised HVDC and power system modelling, simulation and technology consultancy services. Successful Consultant's must demonstrate competence across the range of HVDC technologies (in particular VSC) and the development of multi-terminal schemes. The services required by SHET include, but are not limited to: small-signal stability, sub-synchronous interaction, dynamic performance and power quality studies; development of bespoke user models for PSS/E, Power Factory, Matlab/Simulink and PSCAD; development of real-time simulation models; review of manufacturer's study reports; and the witnessing of tests both during manufacturing and commissioning.
