The Council has recently updated its approach in promoting healthy weight in Hertfordshire by adopting a whole systems collective approach to addressing obesity through ’10 pillars of Action’ (adapted from the work in Amsterdam). This approach focuses on a collective approach among partners to support communities to maintain a healthy weight long term, as part of a county-wide approach. The 10 Pillars are summarised below. The first six pillars will contribute to preventing people from becoming overweight and obese, the seventh pillar will offer support to people who are already overweight, and the final three pillars are approaches/principles that will help us to effectively achieve and measure the first seven pillars. Please refer to the PPME Document for full details
