Amgueddfa Cymru is seeking the services of an Audio-Visual Design Consultant to work with us to help develop an Audio-Visual Design for the redevelopment of Amgueddfa Lechi – National Slate Museum. We are looking to develop ideas and requirements for Audio Visual solutions around the museum into a detailed RIBA 4 design ready for handover to a specialist contractor to deliver. This includes specialist Audio Visual solutions to aid and be part of the interpretation within our new galleries, and historic spaces. As well as our public facing learning spaces, commercial and retail venues, and our back of house meeting rooms for internal operations.

The successful tenderer will need to deliver the following requirements:

• Any Audio-Visual systems and solutions need to be sympathetic to the historic buildings, and current design, implemented in such a way that abortive cost and redesign is minimised.

• Any Audio-Visual system must integrate with a complement the lighting treatment across the site, ensuring that the lighting scheme – in particular for its historic spaces – is not in competition with any projection or other AV installation.

• AV solutions must work within the scope and specification of the building infrastructure.

• Any designed solution needs be driven by the end user’s needs with a strong focus on simple accessible solutions for our visitors and Amgueddfa Cymru staff.

• Any new Audio-Visual infrastructure and equipment shall be easily maintained by primarily internal technical staff and via limited managed service agreements where appropriate.

• All equipment and components shall be readily available to replace or repair when required, with a strong preference for hardware or which does not rely on proprietary software or drivers.

• The new audio-visual design needs to be designed ensuring the Health & Safety of Amgueddfa Cymru’s visitors and staff is maintained in both operation and during servicing.
