The National Waterfront Museum opened in 2005 in a formal partnership between Amgueddfa Cymru and the Council of the City and County of Swansea (CCS). National Waterfront Museum Swansea is a limited company registered number 04255473.

Amgueddfa Cymru is currently considering a multi-phased project of redevelopment of the National Waterfront Museum which will shift its focus from an industrial museum to one that tells Wales’ stories of living with the sea. This project will respond to and support the current redevelopment plans that CCS has for Swansea Museum, incorporating CCS’ emerging Culture Strategy as well as the Local Development Plan 2023-2038. Of particular importance are CCS’ plans to further develop the maritime quarter into a strong cultural destination for residents and tourists.

Amgueddfa Cymru wishes to create a framework agreement for provision of a range of consultancy services to support and deliver the redevelopment project and on-going works flowing from the vision for the National Waterfront Museum.

Museum Architecture and Spaces

• Design and concept development for museum spaces, including activity spaces, circulation areas, commercial hire spaces.

• Option appraisals and feasibility testing for architectural interventions

• Architectural Drawings and Plans

• Structural Engineering

• Interior Design

• Installation of interior design and renders.

• Landscape Design and Plans

Interpretation and Exhibition Planning, Build and Installation

• Interpretive planning

• Interpretive design and concept development for exhibitions, including research and writing copy where necessary

• Design and concept development for museum publications, including research and writing copy where necessary

• Design Services: sound design, 2D, 3D, computer interactives, interpretive games

• Video production and editing

• Creative direction.

• App development.

• Design and build of furniture, such as exhibition displays, reception desks, plinths.

• Decant and removal of exhibition structures, such as displays, temporary walls

• Display case manufacture, installation and repair, including advice on environmental controls and security

• Mount making, all materials

• Initial maintenance/review.

Conservation

• Conservation Services across the industrial and maritime collections (paper/archival, art, ship models, archaeological, natural history etc.), including preventative.

Facilities Management

• Recycling Services

• Pavement repairs

• Tree Surveys and Management

• Scaffolding services

• Specialist Cleaning Services
