Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) is issuing a Contract Award Notice for the Pen-y-fai to Bridgend ATR - Phase 1. See below for the description published on ETenderWales when tendering the contract.
"This is a Further Competition of the County Council of the City and County of Cardiff, South East and Mid Wales Highways Framework Agreement Dated January 2023, Lot 7 refers.
Tender Registration Number: SEWH-3292. To ensure that the Authority has the best possible competition under this Lot, all nominated providers to Lot 7, including reserves have been invited in to submit a bid.
BCBC has a Price Cap of £1,400,000 in operation on this tender. Any bids received that exceed the Price cap will be disqualified.
In accordance with its Contract Procedure Rules (CPRs), BCBC require that Contractors intending on submitting a bid must hold a minimum of Constructionline Bronze membership and hold SSIP Accreditations.
Brief description of Works: The scheme forms the first part of a multi-phase project to improve Active Travel provision between Pen-y-fai and Bridgend and provides a new cycleway/footway from Wildmill View in the South to Heol Pen-y-fai, with associated major junction improvements and realignments to accommodate pedestrian and cycling facilities at the traffic signal junction of Heol Pen-y-fai and the A4063.
The scheme also includes the construction of a bus stop on Heol Pen-y-fai and installation of a Pedex crossing further north on the A4063 to accommodate pedestrian movements along the route.
Generally, the works will require the installation of new kerbing, footway/cycleways, signal poles, controller, tactile paving, signing, road markings, guardrail and safety fencing, and amendments to existing signing.
