Building and Equipment Specifications
Item 1. Underground Slurry Tank
Supply all materials and construct underground slurry tank with slatted cover on prepared level site.
Dimensions: 73.23m long x 5.42m wide x 3.1m deep (all dimensions are internal)
Foundation: 1.8m wide x 0.4m deep mass concrete with 2 layers steel A393 mesh, 16mm steel HY bars every 20cm bent to align with centre of vertical wall to a height of 1m.
Walls: 3.1m high x 0.3m thick mass concrete incorporating 2 layers A393 steel reinforcing mesh
Floor: 0.15m thick concrete reinforced with steel A393 mesh, and incorporating rubber seal to wall/floor joint.
Cover: Supply and fix in situ concrete beams and concrete cattle slats designed to BS8110 (EN2 1992. Eurocode 2) CE Certified.
Item 2. Cow Cubicle Building
Supply all materials and construct portal frame building on prepared level site including all internal works as per attached plan.
Overall Dimensions: 107.69m long x 36.93m wide x 4.61m eaves height
Comprising:
1 main span 18.77m wide x 107.69m long (11 bays x 4.61m plus 1 bay x 6.15m) All steelwork to be galvanised.
2 lean to’s 9.08 wide x 107.69m long x 4.61m eaves height (11 bays x 4.61m plus 1 bay x 6.15m) All steelwork to be galvanised.
Roof cladding - Big 6 fibre cement with 10mm gap between each sheet
Side cladding – HighlightTM cladding above walls to eaves (approx. 3.1m)
Walls (side & end) – 1.5m high x 0.1m thick precast concrete panels
Internal floors – 0.15m thick with expansion joints as necessary. Where floor forms part of cubicle bed, it shall be raised by 0.15m above surrounding floor and incorporate a 75mm rise from back to front of the bed.
Item 3. Internals fittings to cubicle building, straw yard, and isolation pens
Comprising:
480 cubicle divisions – galvanised steel, free standing, loop design. With 176 beds fitted against walls and 304 beds configured as 152 head to head divisions. All with adjustable head rails and brisket boards. Quote supply only, and supply and fix.
480 cubicle mattresses – either individual or continuous run. Minimum 40mm depth. Quote to including fitting.
12 x 4m rapid empty, stainless steel water troughs c/w fast fill ball valves, stands/legs. Circa 440 litre capacity each.
42 head yokes – configured as 7 x 6 head yokes to fit building uprights at 4.615m centres.
3 individual head yokes – 0.9m wide
3 x 4.615m cattle yard gates + 5 x 3.69m cattle yard gates
Item 4. Straw bedded cattle housing and isolation pens
Supply all materials and construct portal frame building on prepared level site including all internal works as per attached plan.
Overall Dimensions: 47.69m long x 13.85m wide x 4.61m eaves height
Comprising:
1 main span with 9 x 4.61m bays plus 1 x 6.15m bay, all 13.85m wide. All steelwork to be galvanised.
Roof cladding - Big 6 fibre cement with 10mm gap between each sheet
Side cladding – HighlightTM cladding above walls to eaves (approx. 3.1m)
Internal floors – 0.15m thick with expansion joints as necessary.
Item 5. Milking Parlour Building and Parlour Base
Supply all materials and construct portal frame building with lean to on prepared level site including all internal works as per attached plan.
Overall Dimensions: Main Span 66.15m long x 23.01m wide x 4.61m eaves height
Lean To 18.46m long x 5.50m wide x 4.00m eaves height
Comprising:
Main span - 13 x 4.61m bays plus 1 x 6.15m wide, all 23.01 wide. All steelwork to be galvanised.
Roof cladding: Big 6 fibre cement sheeting.
External walls: 2.4m high x 0.1m thick pre-cast concrete panels.
Internal walls: Construct shuttered concrete dividing wall 0.2m wide x 1.8m high x 38.5m internally to form collecting and dispersal yards.
Floors: 150mm thick concrete, with power float smooth surface to dairy and parlour floors, and tamped finish to collecting and dispersal yards.
Drains: From cow entry point and exit points to parlour and through to the segregation and dispersal areas, excavate trenches, and supply and install 60m x 0.3m concrete half pipe set in concrete covered with 0.55m wide concrete grating with fall to slurry tank.
Rotary Parlour base: Construct as per milking parlour supplier plans. The following specification is provided as a guide:
Excavate and remove spoil to accommodate milking platform and main ring foundation.
Supply and lay concrete foundation – circa 42m x 0.9m x 0.3m incorporating 2 layers steel reinforcing mesh A393 with 2 rows 15mm steel HY bars 1m high.
Construct 2 x 100mm x 0.9m high internal and external concrete block walls with 0.25m gap to allow for 2 rows of steel reinforcing mesh A393 and fill with concrete. Internal wall to be rendered.
Form and lay top base concrete 1.1m wide x 0.2m thick reinforced with 2 layers A393 steel mesh. Power float finish.
Form and shutter concrete channel 0.2m x 0.3m to act as internal drain. Supply and lay concrete floor inside main ring with falls to internal drain.
Excavate trench and lay 150mm drain to take surface drainage from parlour area and gullies and deliver to slurry tank.
Prepare, supply and lay concrete floor 150mm thick outside parlour circle out to walls. Power float finish.
Lean To to Parlour building - 18.46m long x 5.50m wide x 4.00m eaves height
External walls: 230mm concrete block walls to eaves height, rendered internally.
Internal walls: 150mm rendered concrete block internal walls as per attached plan to create milk vat room, wash room, plant room, cloakroom and store room.
Roof cladding: Big 6 fibre cement sheeting.
Ceiling: Supply and fix plastic ceiling to milk vat room, cloakroom and wash room.
Floors: 150mm concrete. Power float finish.
Drains: Supply and lay 100mm drains with gullies to milk vat room, wash room, and cloakroom. Will need to incorporate 0.9m x 0.9m drainage grid at milk vat outlet, 100mm gullies under wash basins in milk vat room and cloakroom, and under auto plant washer in wash room. Drainage will be to slurry tank.
Item 6. Milking Parlour stall work and equipment
Supply and install 60 point rotary milking parlour to the following specification:
Steel deck with concrete cow standing, with heavy duty galvanised dividing stalls, complete with feed troughs, mounted on steel rollers with all necessary entrance and exit races.
2 x Variable speed drive units with safety gate cut offs, and control console.
Stainless steel milk and pulsation lines
Milking equipment to include the following:
60 milking points incorporating auto ID and software, milk measuring and sampling, Auto Cluster Removal, auto cluster sterilisation between cows, and auto teat disinfection.
Auto cow retention at exit point if milking not completed.
500 cow transponders for auto ID.
3 Way robotic drafting on exit race.
NB. Must be able to input and retrieve individual cow data from central computer records and mark cows for drafting on exit from operator position.
2 x Variable speed vacuum pumps with oil interceptors.
2 x Variable speed milk pumps, stainless steel receiver with auto drain, and 2 stage plate cooler.
Auto plant washer with food quality air purge system.
50mm milk tank bottom fill non return valve.
Adjustable feed system at cow entry complete with delivery auger and boot suitable for attachment to external bulk feed hopper.
‘Up and Over’ backing gate for collecting yard 37m long x 14m wide
NB. All electrical components must be suitable for 3 phase electricity supply.
All the above equipment must be CE approved and installed to comply with all relevant BS ISO standards.
