Because many properties will have bespoke issues and therefore require bespoke solutions we will be expanding our target hardening service which currently delivers a service for victims of crime in our area. The service will be delivered by 24/7 Locks and will involve their trained operatives assessing the vulnerabilities of their property (including the property’s perimeter) to burglary, the vulnerability of the resident and then fitting appropriate security devices to best secure their home. We will be making use of the WIDE methodology ensuring that windows and doors are secured to safer by design standards (as far as that is possible without replacing doors and windows) and providing, with guidance, timer switches to enable indoor lighting during non-occupancy and outside lighting (where appropriate) to make it more difficult for those committing burglary to do so un-observed.

Esboniad:
The existing contact with 24-7 Locks Ltd doesn't expire until 31 July 2021 at the earliest. Additional funding has been received enabling expansion of the service provided it's spend this financial year and we require bespoke solutions that will take time to deliver. This was unforeseen and is time critical. It would also cause us technical difficulties if there were more than one contractor providing the same service, which would be disproportionate to the contract and result in significant internal costs. The expansion of the target hardening service is a repetition of the current contract that was advertised using the open procedure.
