Crynodeb

The Recovery Housing Service intends to deliver supervised, short-term housing to

individuals who are abstinent from drugs and alcohol to aid their recovery journey into

permanent housing. The objective for the Recovery Housing Service is to provide support to

the most vulnerable people in Kent who are recovering from drug and alcohol misuse and do

not have secure accommodation. The main aim is to support continued recovery and enable

individuals to lead and fulfilling life in independent accommodation.

The Service will provide time-limited recovery support for those who are at risk of

homelessness, or people who are homeless and are transitioning between drug and alcohol

services and independent living. Specifically, the service will provide:

• Continued drug and alcohol recovery support Temporary accommodation/housing related

support to secure treatment journey progress

• Extended recovery support e.g. Life skills to be better placed to sustain recovery outcome

and stable housing in the end of treatment.

Service Users at risk of homelessness will be provided with private temporary

accommodation for an average stay of 6-12 months and a maximum of 18 months. Residents

will receive psychologically and trauma informed recovery support and advice around their

former drug and alcohol use.

The Service is to be made available to people in drug and alcohol recovery resident in Kent

who are over 18 and have an identified housing related support need. Service users must be

already engaged with recovery and have a commitment to remaining abstinent (i.e.

individuals must not engage in alcohol or illicit drug use at all, either indefinitely or for a short

period of time).
