Sport Partnerships are aiming to be a game changer for future generations, transforming the way community sport is created, delivered, lead, and funded, to ensure we have an inclusive sport system, overcoming ongoing and stubborn inequalities in participation in sport and physical activity; transforming Wales into an active nation where everyone can have a lifelong enjoyment of sport.
We pledged to ensuring that sport is accessible, inclusive, and affordable, leaving no one behind. And we vowed to provide people with the skills to reach their potential and achieve their goals.
Aligned to Welsh Government policy and the Vision for Sport in Wales, Sport Partnerships will be the entity through which all local investment from Sport Wales will be coordinated. Empowered to bring about system change, they will be the catalyst to tackling 2 long standing issues.
1.Ensuring there is the right support and opportunities in place for those who are not regularly physically active - with a clear focus on removing barriers for those who need most help.
2.Taking steps to meet the high latent demand from those who are active but want to do much more.
Sport Wales are currently working with organisations and individuals across five Regional Sport Partnerships areas:
• North Wales
• Mid-Wales
• West Wales
• Gwent
• Central South
There has been significant progress in the North Wales region with the launch of Actif North Wales whilst there is the expectation of all Regional Sport Partnership entities being operational by April 2024.
