2016 Visitor Survey for the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority

The Brecon Beacons National Park Authority (the client) wishes to commission consultants to design, deliver and analyse data from a survey of the visitors to the Brecon Beacons National Park Area. The National Park Authority (NPA) has not undertaken such research since 2005 and at a time of increasing need for evidence based decision making the data from such a survey is now necessary. In addition, although a number of organizations: Visit Wales, Visit Britain, Brecon Beacons Tourism, Powys County Council and a number of projects, including Collabor8 and Rural Alliances, have conducted surveys of visitors using various methodologies and at varying scales, none of these provide enough data on where visitors actually go and what they do on their visit to the National Park. Because of the large percentage of day visitors to the National Park it is important that we increase our knowledge to aid in evidence based decision making.

A provisional budget of £24,000 to £26,000 has been secured for this project and bids will be expected to respond to these levels of funding and to outline what can be achieved for both levels of funding.

• A fee quotation (excluding VAT) for the whole project, to include all fees, expenses and disbursements. The fee should be subdivided to reflect the stages of the consultant’s preferred methodology. The NPA is amenable to stage payments and would invite consultants to suggest percentage payments in respect of these stages.

• A separate quotation per 100 additional surveys (excluding VAT)

• A separate hourly rate (excluding VAT) for additional meetings as set out in paragraph 8.0 should be separately quantified.
